Dairei Citadel ~ Erbil south of Kurdistan

Its construction date goes back to Prince Muhammad’s reign (1813-1837) A.D.It is situated on a high hill in the western part of the foot of (Permam) mountain chain 38 Km far from Erbil City and 2 Km to the left of Erbil – Darabizmar – (Sarukani village) road. It is surrounded by a rigid wall suitable for defense and military purposes of which contains several slots for shooting.
Some of the wall remains still stand (1 to 6) m high. The citadel as well consists of (5) rooms, a hall and a big yard (23 x 21.7) meters and a well for water supply.
